QUEENS DANCE WORKSHOP

The Queens Dance Workshop was established as a beacon of resources in Queens, NY for emerging choreographers looking to gain a foothold in the community or unestablished local dancer artists in search of the next step.

As a Queens based dance company The Rogue Dancers have made it part of our missions is to bring awareness and resources to the Queen dance scene. The events are possible because of a generous space donation from Spencer Pilates Arts in Forest Hills, Queens.

SHOWCASES

Each year we host performance showcases to bring the strongest and most innovative work to south Forest Hills, with the goal of making Central Queen a destination to see good dance.

 

Choreographers’ Coffeehouse- Saturday February 21st

Designed to for the choreographic equilent of beat poetry, chosen choreographers or dance companies are given a 7 minute slot to show their raw work. Ideal for solos or duets that have a powerful message or show a strong interpersonal relationship.

Spring Spotlight- Spring

Chosen choreographers or Dance Companies are given a 15 minute slot to show a completed work or an excerpt of a completed work that embody innovation. Open to emerging and more established choreographers this showcase is ideal for a refined piece that speaks strongly to the mission and overall theme of the artist’s work.

To help choreographers and dance companies from the New York Metro Area grow and solidify their business we offer a day long workshop to cover the essential issues that all Non-for-profit face

 

Branding and Marketing

This workshop addresses the issues of defining who you are as an individual artist or a company in an authentic manner and carrying those ideas into social media. 

 

Grant writing and fundraiser

This workshop lays out the process of finding and completing grants to support your projects, how to host a fundraiser and the appropriate way to ask for money. 

 

Self-producing: The nuance of scheduling and managing a staff

Now that you are creating your own work this workshop talks about managing the day to day tasks and help you be the best boss you can be.
